Here at FAITHHAUS we are always on the search for inspiration and art for the home. When we find things we love, we are curious to know if there's a driving force behind that design. When we look at faith and art, there is often  a common thread which is the soul of an artist that comes through in their creations. Shivam Seghal is a perfect example. As a believer in God, faith is a big influence and a calming force in Shivam's life. Read on to see how he is inspired...

-Would you say you have faith in your life?
Well, I have faith. I believe in God. Frankly, it's one thing to say you have faith, but it's an entirely different matter to apply your faith to life's challenges. And if you don't have faith in yourself you will not be able to face life's challenges, at certain point of time you will break.

-What is your definition of faith?
Faith is no different from Trust on someone or something. If I tell someone that, "I have faith in you, that means I know and trust that person's capabilities."

-Do you have specific rituals that you do in relation to your faith (meditation, prayer, celebrations, etc)?
When I'm too broke or having an art block, it becomes difficult to hold a grip on myself and faith in my works, then I just sit back there on my bed and tell myself the reason why I started that work and what all good it will do to me if I  keep on doing it. I say that to myself for once.. twice.. thrice.. repeatedly.. till I get a grip on my emotions. Sometimes it just takes few hours sometimes a couple of days, but it works every time.

-Do you think it’s important for youth to have faith? Why?
Yes, it is the most important thing to have faith on yourself and what you are doing. Because if you can't trust yourself, nobody else will put their faith in you. Having faith in yourself also enhances your personality because it shows how confident you are about yourself and how well you can present yourself in front of the world.

-Do you share your faith with others or keep it private?
I don't like to share my problems. I try to keep it to myself and find ways to tackle it. But if any person comes to and ask for help. I do help them with all possible means I can.

-What’s your favorite thing about faith?
My favourite thing about having faith is, it helps you keep going in life. Having faith in yourself will give you self-confidence and having faith in others will give you their forever loyalty and friendship.

-Do you buy gifts, items for your house or items that you wear that are related to faith or spirituality?
I wear a thumb ring with an arrow craved in it. It's more like a lucky ring for me. It symbolizes that time is like an arrow, once the time is gone it cannot be pulled back or lived again. So live your life to the fullest. Follow your dreams... your ambitions…and have faith in yourself that you can become someone who matters.

-Are you creating items to celebrate your faith and can you tell us about what you make?
Currently I am making illustrations for my home and also they are available on my Etsy shop. They include pencil drawings, galaxy and dotworks, watercolor sketches. God has no shape or face- I just try to make what I think god might look like.

We love Shivam's outlook on life. He currently resides in New Delhi and he likes to celebrate all festivals but doesn't follow any religion as such.
